Jacks or Better is the classic Las Vegas video poker game — now free to play on your phone, with a twist nobody else offers: you can play it head-to-head against a friend. Get dealt five cards, decide which to hold and which to discard, and draw for the strongest possible poker hand. Land at least a pair of Jacks (or anything better — two pair, a flush, four of a kind, all the way up to the Royal Flush) and you win. Practice solo against the machine to sharpen your strategy, then jump into the unique two-player mode to find out who really makes the smarter decisions when you both get the exact same cards. Climb the global leaderboard, track your stats, and play all night — no real money, just the thrill.

How to play
- You're dealt five cards. Jacks or Better is a five-card draw video poker game.
- Hold or discard. Decide which cards to keep ("hold") and which to discard. Tap to hold, then draw.
- Draw replacements. Discarded cards are replaced with new ones from the deck — that's your final hand.
- Win condition: your final hand must contain at least a pair of Jacks (Jacks, Queens, Kings, or Aces). A pair of tens or lower does not pay. Stronger poker hands pay more.
- Hand ranking & payout (per coin/stake; the table scales with how much you bet, 1–5): Royal Flush pays 250 (4000 at max bet ×5); Straight Flush 50 (250); Four of a Kind 25 (125); Full House 7 (35); Flush 5 (25); Straight 4 (20); Three of a Kind 3 (15); Two Pair 2 (10); Jacks or Better (pair) 1 (5). The in-app paytable shows five columns: the base multiplier for a 1-coin bet, then ×2, ×3, ×4 for higher bets, and a final 5-coin column where the Royal Flush jumps to a 4000 jackpot. Higher bet = bigger payout.
- Two-player mode specifics: Both players use 100 "Playing-Dollars" per game — each starts with 25, and 50 go into the game-pot (bank). Each round both players receive an identically shuffled deck and can set their round stake. Win a round → take Playing-Dollars from the pot; lose a round → your stake goes into the pot. A game is won three ways: (1) all rounds played and you have more Playing-Dollars, (2) your opponent loses all their Playing-Dollars, or (3) the pot is empty and you have more Playing-Dollars. Games run a maximum number of rounds (default 20).
Frequently asked questions
What is Jacks or Better?
It's one of the simplest and most popular forms of video poker. You're dealt five cards, hold the ones you want, draw replacements for the rest, and win if your final hand is at least a pair of Jacks — or any stronger poker hand.
Why "Jacks or Better"? What's the minimum winning hand?
A pair only pays if it's a pair of Jacks, Queens, Kings or Aces. A pair of tens or lower doesn't win — hence "Jacks or better."
Is it real-money gambling?
No. The game is free to play and uses play-money credits and "Playing-Dollars" only. There's no real-money betting and no cash payouts.
Can I play against other people, not just the machine?
Yes — and that's the standout feature. Most video poker is solo against a machine; here you can also play 1-vs-1 against friends or random players online. To keep it fair, both players get the exact same shuffled deck each round, so the winner is whoever makes the better hold/discard decisions.
How do I play with a specific friend?
Open a Private game. You can invite up to three friends from your friends list, or open a room and share the three-letter room code — your friend taps "Join by Code" to join. Offline friends get a push notification about the invite.
What's the best possible hand and payout?
The Royal Flush (10-J-Q-K-A of the same suit). At a single-coin bet it pays 250×, and at max bet (5 coins) it pays the 4000 jackpot.
How do levels and the leaderboard work?
Your Score rises with the credits you win, your Rank is your position on the all-time leaderboard, and your Level (1–9999) is derived from your score. There are daily, weekly, monthly and all-time leaderboards. Above level 1000 you become a Gold Star Member with special badges.
Which languages and designs does it support?
The app is available in English, German, Spanish, Dutch and Hungarian, and you can choose between a classic Las Vegas style and a modern design.
